Surly Cross x Check
Earlier this week I found a bike I’ve always wanted at a price I couldn’t refuse. Setup as a single speed, really nice used shape. I have a few more tweaks to perform but since I purchased it I’ve:
swapped out the flat bars for drop bars
swapped out the V-brake for cantilevers
swapped out the Schwalbe Marathons for some Kendra Slant 6 cross tires
added a water bottle cage
added a front rack (those old cheap Nashbar racks that I wish were still available.
Still on the list to add:
install bar tape once I confirm the brake position is good
swap out the saddle (probably a brooks C-17)
swap out the pedals to SPD clipless
possibly swap out the freewheel to slightly smaller one
possibly add a fixed cog and longing ring to the other side of the Surly flip-flop hub
some type of a bag to be able to carry a little food and coffee outside stuff. Leaning towards a frame bag or saddle bag
But while all fo these things are waiting to be done, I’ll just be riding this thing while the weather allows. 👍
