Screen Free Sundays

We have started a bit of a few tradition in our family. No screens on Sundays. Almost not screens. You see before this new tradition, we had started a tradition of a Sunday night family movie. It’s great. We generally have a faspa type meal and then start the movie in good time so we can all have an early night in preparation for the upcoming week.

Now, back to the new tradition. Much of this has been brought on by inspiration from watching the Netflix show called The Social Dilemma. I also removed instagram from my phone because of it.

But having done these screen free Sunday’s for a few weeks now, it is amazing how much better they have made Sunday’s in our household. If I’m honest about it, I spent a good portion of a lot of Sunday’s staring at my phone. Checking out bicycle builds, seeing who’s doing what on instagram and perusing Amazon trying to decide what camera lens or bike part I wanted delivered next week. It’s was actually quite pathetic.

See, I love relaxing on Sunday’s. Sunday’s are sacred in our family but somehow they didn’t feel as rejuvenating as I thought they should. I didn’t feel as well rested as I thought I should have for being so sedentary for an entire day. Maybe that was because my mind was rushing from one digital page to another. Thinking too many thoughts for a rest day because I had so many distractions. In just my phone.

This article is coming out on a Sunday. What? How’s that? Well, the ability to schedule posts of course. And, I’m pretty sure that most folks don’t try to have a screen free Sunday, I thought it might be a good day (possibly less running around) to put this article out there. Maybe this screen shares an idea with you of what it might be like without a screen for a day. I can tell you this, it’s pretty rad.

I am currently trying to work through another 30 day challenge on YouTube so what that means, is today (Saturday) I’m editing two videos so I can have one for tomorrow automatically scheduled. BTW, it’s going to be about making French Onion Soup. I haven’t even finished the soup yet but there is a good chance it’s going to be amazing, you might want to watch it, and it might pair well with the rest of this screen free Sunday….

Cheers 👍

It all comes together and sets up a great start to a day of worship, slow cycling, reading and drinking too much coffee. (just kidding. you can’t do that)
